Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar Inspects Almora Police Line and Discusses Cybercrime and Drug Addiction

Almora (Uttarakhand) [India], September 27: During his Kumaon tour, Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar visited Police Line Almora to inspect ongoing construction works, including an administrative building, women’s barracks, and type 4 houses. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good quality and timely completion of these projects.

DGP Kumar directed SSP Almora Devendra Pincha to regularly inspect the construction works. He also took the guard’s salute at Almora Police Line. Kumar highlighted the ongoing police modernization efforts in the state, aiming to provide well-equipped housing and offices for the police force.

The DGP instructed district in-charges to take necessary actions to control crimes against women, cybercrime, and increasing drug addiction among youth. He stressed the importance of effective counseling for youth affected by drug addiction to help reintegrate them into society.

Kumar noted the growing challenge of cyber fraud, urging prompt action to arrest cyber fraudsters and protect people from losing their lifelong earnings. On September 20, he led a meeting to discuss the requirements for new criminal laws, involving officials from the prosecution, justice, and prison departments, along with senior police officers.

During the meeting, DGP Kumar proposed equipping all police stations with video conferencing systems and providing officers with modern tools such as tablets, body-worn cameras, mobile crime kits, and fingerprint scanners to enhance the effective implementation of new criminal laws.
