Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar’s Meeting on Crime and Traffic Management
On November 6, Uttarakhand’s Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, held a video conference with various police officials to discuss crime, law and order, and traffic management. The meeting included Zone and District Incharges, Superintendents of Police, and officials from the STF and Railways.
Key Directives from the Meeting
DGP Kumar emphasized the importance of compulsory crime registration and reviewing crime rate changes at local levels. He urged districts with low property recovery rates to improve and called for separate evaluations of crime data in plain and hill districts.
He also directed effective actions against reward criminals and promoted ‘Operation Smile’ to reunite missing persons with their families. Training on new laws will be provided, and district in-charges will be responsible for supervision from 2025.
Traffic and Safety Measures
The DGP announced a campaign against overloaded and illegal vehicles starting November 10. He stressed the need for action against road accidents caused by overloading and instructed the installation of safety measures at accident-prone areas.
Public Awareness Initiatives
Plans for a joint Nanda Devi expedition with ITBP and a Ganga Safai Abhiyan were discussed. Preparations for the Chardham Yatra were also reviewed, with instructions to address any issues promptly.
