Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Urges Villages to Join ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign for Independence Day

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called upon the representatives of all Gram panchayats and bodies in the state to join the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. This initiative aims to make the upcoming Independence Day effective and memorable by linking it with environmental protection.

In a letter to village heads, the Chief Minister highlighted that 7,795 Gram panchayats, 95 area panchayats, and 13 district panchayats have been constituted in the state. He urged them to create a concrete plan to make the national festival on August 15, 2024, memorable and impressive. The campaign should be run at every panchayat level as a people-oriented initiative to promote environmental protection and address climate change.

The Chief Minister suggested that tree plantation should be done at Amrit Sarovar, other water sources, panchayat offices, schools, playgrounds, or other important public places. To ensure the participation of Panchayati Raj institutions and the public, an honorary nodal officer should be nominated at every Gram Panchayat level. This officer can be the Pradhan or any other eminent person of that Panchayat, and village-level personnel should also be authorized for necessary support.

He also requested the general public to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by making this activity a part of their annual action plan.

Earlier, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree plantation campaign began across Rajasthan under the ‘Harialo Rajasthan’ initiative. Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar inaugurated the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Mega Campaign at the Women’s Polytechnic College in Jodhpur. He emphasized the importance of planting trees every year to stay healthy and create a tradition that benefits society, the state, and the country. He urged everyone to plant more trees and increase their numbers, sending a message to the world that Rajasthan will take the initiative when the country and the world are in danger.
