Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Leads Rescue Efforts in Rain-Hit Tehri and Rudraprayag
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a ground inspection of the rain-affected areas in Tehri and Rudraprayag. Due to landslides, the Kedarnath Yatra has been halted for the safety of the passengers.
In Rudraprayag district, with the coordination of SDRF, NDRF, DDRF, District Police, and District Administration, stranded passengers on the Kedarnath Yatra route have been safely evacuated. About 425 passengers stranded in Bhimbali, Rambada, and Lyncholi were airlifted. Additionally, 1100 passengers stranded between Sonprayag and Bhimbali were moved to safety via an alternative route.
Heavy rains on Wednesday night caused significant damage to roads, foot-bridges, power and drinking water lines, and agricultural land. Upon receiving information about the disaster, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami became active and reached the State Disaster Operations Center to assess the damage. He instructed officials to remain on alert.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister spent the entire day in the disaster-affected areas, conducting an aerial survey and inquiring about the victims’ conditions. He also examined the arrangements in the relief and rescue camps. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police in Rudraprayag took charge of the rescue operation from late night. With coordinated efforts, about 1500 passengers stranded on the Kedarnath Dham Yatra footpath and various stops were evacuated safely by 5 pm.
The Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped temporarily due to landslides for the safety of the passengers.
