Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Prepares for Uniform Civil Code
On Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting in Dehradun to discuss the preparations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand. He stressed the importance of finalizing the procedures and rules on time and directed the systematic execution of the sub-committee’s work.
CM Dhami emphasized the need for thorough study and public awareness about UCC. He instructed that training programs be completed soon and that all departments work in coordination.
Sub-Committees and Reports
Shatrughan Singh, Chairman of the UCC Committee, informed that three sub-committees have been formed:
- One for preparing the outline of the rules, which has held 43 meetings and will submit its report by August 31, 2024.
- Another for ease and transparency in implementation, which has held 20 meetings and will also submit its report by August 31, 2024.
- The third for capacity development and training, which will submit its report by September 30, 2024.
Various departments have been assigned responsibilities to ensure effective implementation of UCC provisions.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Principal Secretary Justice Pradeep Pant, DGP Abhinav Kumar, and other officials.
