Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Plants Tree with His Mother on Guru Purnima
On the special occasion of Guru Purnima, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami planted a sapling with his mother, Bishna Devi, under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. The event was organized by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) on the banks of the Rispana River at Gangotri Vihar on Canal Road.
Chief Minister Dhami highlighted that a mother is the first guru in a person’s life and expressed his fortune in participating in the campaign. He encouraged everyone in the state to plant a tree in their mother’s name this monsoon season. The campaign is part of a larger tree plantation initiative running from the Harela festival (July 16) to August 15, involving social organizations, environmental workers, and self-help groups.
MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari announced plans to construct a park on the plantation site, with initial fencing to protect the plants from animals and the addition of a walking track and biodiversity-promoting plants. Tiwari also planted a tree in the name of his mother, Savitri Devi.
