Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Ministers Mourn the Loss of MLA Shaila Rani Rawat
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 18: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his cabinet ministers observed two minutes of silence for MLA Shaila Rani Rawat, who passed away on Tuesday night. Rawat, a BJP MLA from Kedarnath, passed away at a private hospital.
Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dhami visited Shaila Rani’s residence in Dehradun to pay tribute to her mortal remains. Speaking to the media, Dhami said, “Shaila Rani Rawat always worked for the welfare of the people in her constituency. Whenever she used to meet me, she always thought about the development of her region.”
He added, “It is extremely sad that she is no more with us now. I pray to god that her soul rests in peace and to provide strength to her family.”
After receiving the news of her death, CM Dhami remarked, “Her demise is an irreparable loss for the party and the people of the area. Her dedication towards duty and public service will always be remembered.”
Shaila Rani Rawat had a notable political career. She won the Kedarnath seat in 2012 on a Congress ticket, lost it in 2017, and regained it in 2022 on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.
