Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the illegal occupation of land in the Upper Kosi Reserved Forest Area under the Terai Western Forest Division and Ramnagar Forest Division. This decision follows a preliminary investigation conducted by the District Magistrate of Nainital, based on a report from the SDM of Ramnagar.

The report indicated illegal activities, including the buying and selling of government land using stamp papers. In response, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the SIT to look into potential economic crimes and other illegal activities related to the case.
