On October 28, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the ‘Vigilance Awareness Week and Training Camp 2024’ in Dehradun. The event, held at Kargi Grant on Haridwar Bypass Road, was organized by the Directorate of Vigilance Establishment under the theme ‘Prosperity of the Nation with the Culture of Integrity’.

During the event, CM Dhami announced plans to form a team of surveillance, technical, and financial experts to enhance the Vigilance Department’s effectiveness. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in public administration, urging everyone to work with honesty and ethics.

Dhami highlighted the role of e-governance initiatives in promoting transparency and combating corruption, citing demonetization, GST, and the DBT system as key measures. He reiterated the Uttarakhand government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

Director Vigilance V. Murugeshan reported that since the launch of the toll-free number ‘1064’ in 2022, nearly 7,800 complaints have been registered, with 66 sting operations conducted and action taken against 75 individuals.

Earlier, CM Dhami supported BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal as she filed her nomination for the Kedarnath assembly constituency by-election. Dhami expressed confidence in Nautiyal’s ability to address the region’s issues, having represented the constituency twice before.
