On October 14, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the World Standards Day event organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) at the Himalayan Cultural Center in Dehradun. The event highlighted the role of BIS in supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant and developed India.

Importance of BIS

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that BIS plays a crucial role in ensuring Indian products meet international standards. He stated, “Bureau of Indian Standards can play a very important role in fulfilling PM Modi’s resolution of self-reliant and developed India.”

World Standards Day Theme

This year’s theme for World Standards Day is “Shared Vision for a Better World: Standards for the Changing Climate,” focusing on collaboration to address climate change. BIS celebrates this day annually to honor the efforts of experts in standardization worldwide.

BIS, the National Standards Body of India, operates under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. It offers various schemes like Product Certification, Management Systems Certification, and Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery. BIS aims to protect consumers and the environment by providing safe, reliable, and quality goods.

Earlier, CM Dhami met with residents at his private residence in Khatima, addressing their concerns and directing officials for immediate solutions.
