Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Promises to Resolve Land Law Issues
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami assured the people of Uttarakhand that his government will resolve the issue of land law. Speaking at the Media Centre in the Secretariat, CM Dhami said, “Just as our government has resolved various long-standing cases from March 2021 till now, in the same way, I assure the people of Uttarakhand that our government will also resolve the issue of land law.”
He emphasized that the government is sensitive to the issue of land law and domicile and is working on a comprehensive land law in accordance with Uttarakhand’s geographical conditions for the next budget session.
Currently, any person can buy up to 250 square meters of land outside municipal areas without permission, but violations have been reported. CM Dhami stated that these violations will be investigated, and lands bought under false pretenses will be reclaimed by the state.
He also mentioned that lands purchased for business activities like tourism and industry but not used for these purposes will be reviewed, and strict action will be taken against violators.
Changes made in 2017 to land purchase rules, such as abolishing the maximum limit of 12.5 acres and authorizing district officials for permissions, will be reviewed and possibly abolished if found ineffective.
CM Dhami assured that these steps aim to preserve Uttarakhand’s original form and will not affect investments that create employment and strengthen the economy.
