Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 5: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored former President, educationist, and philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary by offering flowers to his picture at the Chief Minister’s residence. This day is also celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India.

On this occasion, CM Dhami extended his wishes to all teachers, acknowledging their crucial role in shaping students’ characters and contributing to nation-building. He emphasized the importance of respecting teachers and strengthening the Indian tradition of reverence towards them.

CM Dhami stated, “Teachers play an important role in building the character of students and making them worthy citizens. Teachers not only make an important contribution to nation-building by educating the students, but they also have a big role in giving a new direction to the society.” He also highlighted the significant role teachers play in implementing state government schemes for educational development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings on Teacher’s Day and paid tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan. In a post on ‘X’, the PM said, “Best wishes on #TeachersDay, an occasion to express gratitude to all teachers who shape young minds. Tributes to Dr. Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary.”

Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on September 5 to honor teachers and their role in shaping students’ lives. The day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a scholar and Bharat Ratna recipient, who was born in 1888. He served as the first Vice President of independent India from 1952 to 1962 and as the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.
