Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Reviews Disaster Management Efforts

On Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a video conference with senior officials and all District Magistrates to review disaster management and rehabilitation efforts. The meeting took place at the Secretariat.

Damage Assessment and Relief Operations

Chief Minister Dhami received updates from District Magistrates about the damage caused by heavy rains and the ongoing relief and rescue operations. He directed the District Magistrate of Uttarkashi to collaborate with IIT Roorkee and THDC for a technical study of the Varunavat landslide area. He also emphasized the need to consider previous studies to ensure effective treatment of the landslide zone.

Reconstruction and Repair Work

Dhami instructed all District Magistrates to prepare a list of landslide-prone areas and start the tender process for road repairs and other reconstruction projects as soon as the rains end. He also stressed the importance of repairing the Chardham Yatra route and studying landslide-affected areas with the help of technical institutions.

Warning Systems and Fund Allocation

The Chief Minister highlighted the need to develop a warning system for landslides and to face disaster challenges with mutual coordination. He assured that there would be no shortage of funds for disaster victims and reconstruction work, and that increasing the disaster fund limit would improve construction efforts.

Future Preparedness

Dhami urged officials to remain alert for potential heavy rains in September and to prepare an effective action plan to prevent post-rain diseases. He also called for a report on tree plantation and the status of Amrit Sarovars, ensuring that all work is visible on the ground.

Efforts and Improvements

Secretary of Disaster Management, Mr. Vinod Kumar Suman, provided detailed information about the disaster situation, relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts through a presentation.
