Uttarakhand CM Dhami Launches Lalkuan-Bandra Superfast Train
On Monday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually inaugurated the Lalkuan-Bandra Superfast train from his residence in Dehradun. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister for fulfilling the long-standing demand of the people for this train service. The new train will make travel easier for people from Mumbai to the Kumaon region, including Haldwani, Almora, and Pithoragarh.
Chief Minister Dhami highlighted that the train service will benefit devotees visiting religious sites like Baba Kainchi Dham and Jageshwar. He praised the leadership of PM Modi in advancing Indian Railways with modern trains like Vande Bharat. The Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line is under construction, and the Tanakpur-Bageshwar line will begin soon, aiming to connect Uttarakhand with major cities like Kashi and Ayodhya.
MP Ajay Bhatt noted that the direct rail service from Lalkuan to Mumbai was a long-awaited demand. The new train, numbered 22544, will operate weekly, departing Lalkuan on Monday mornings and reaching Bandra on Tuesday mornings. It will return from Bandra on Tuesday and arrive in Lalkuan on Wednesday. The train features various classes, including AC and sleeper, with LHB coaches for safety and comfort.
