Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 29: The government of Uttarakhand, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has intensified its efforts against illegal land transactions in the state. This decision was announced by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Strict Measures on Land Use

State Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal explained that the government is serious about enforcing land laws. Actions will be taken against those who have purchased land but are not using it for the intended purpose. Such lands will be taken over by the state government. Additionally, families who have bought more than 250 square meters of land will have their extra land vested in the state government.

Public Involvement and Future Reforms

Minister Uniyal emphasized the need for public awareness and participation in preserving ancestral lands. He assured that any necessary reforms to the land law will be made to protect the rights of the people. The future land law is being prepared with public sentiments in mind.

Committees for Land Law Drafting

The state government has formed the Subhash Kumar Committee and another committee led by Chief Secretary Radha Raturi to draft the new land law. These committees are studying suggestions, holding meetings, and finalizing the draft to be implemented in the next budget session.
