Uttarakhand and Kerala Top Sustainable Development Goals Ranking in India

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 13: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Uttarakhand has secured the top rank among states in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index 2023-24, jointly with Kerala. This ranking, released by NITI Aayog, is a significant achievement for the state.

Encouraging Achievement

Chief Minister Dhami stated that this ranking is very encouraging for Uttarakhand. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the efforts of the state government for this success. He congratulated the people of Uttarakhand for their cooperation and support.

SDG India Index 2023-24

The SDG India Index 2023-24, released by NITI Aayog, measures the progress of all states and Union Territories (UTs) on 113 indicators aligned with the National Indicator Framework. Uttarakhand and Kerala both scored 79, while Chandigarh led among UTs with a score of 77. Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Himachal Pradesh followed in the rankings.

The Index was launched by Suman Bery, Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog, in the presence of BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog; Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator in India; Dr. Yogesh Suri, Senior Adviser at NITI Aayog; and Isabelle Tschan Harada, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP.

Commitment to Development

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that the state government is committed to establishing a transparent system and achieving comprehensive development. The SDG Index ranking is a testament to the state’s progress towards becoming a leading state in India.
