Uttarakhand and Kerala Top SDG India Index 2023-24

NITI Aayog released the SDG India Index 2023-24, highlighting the progress of states and Union Territories (UTs) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Uttarakhand and Kerala secured the top positions among states, each scoring 79.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the people of Uttarakhand, attributing the success to their cooperation and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the state’s commitment to balanced ecological and economic development.

The Index, launched by Suman Bery, Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog, in the presence of key officials, measures progress on 113 indicators aligned with the National Indicator Framework. Chandigarh led among UTs with a score of 77. Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Himachal Pradesh followed Uttarakhand and Kerala among the top states.

The scores for states ranged from 57 to 79, showing improvement from the 2020-21 scores, which ranged from 52 to 75. The SDG India Index is a crucial tool for tracking national and subnational progress on the SDGs.
