The Uttar Pradesh Police has implemented a comprehensive security plan for the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. This event, which occurs every 12 years, is expected to attract over 45 crore devotees. To ensure safety, a multi-layered security system called "impenetrable security Chakravyuh" has been established.
The police have set up 102 checkpoints across 7 routes connecting Prayagraj to 8 neighboring districts. A total of 1,026 police personnel, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables, are stationed at these checkpoints. Additionally, 113 Home Guards/PRD jawans and 3 sections of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) are part of the security team.
Advanced surveillance equipment, such as 5 Vajra vehicles, 10 drones, and 4 anti-sabotage teams, are in place to monitor the area 24/7. Underwater drones and 2,700 AI-enabled cameras have been installed around the Maha Kumbh campsite to enhance security.
The Maha Kumbh will conclude on February 26, with main bathing rituals (Shahi Snan) scheduled for January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami). Devotees will gather at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, to take a holy dip.
