Uttar Pradesh Police Arrests Two for Counterfeiting Stamp Papers in Gorakhpur

In an effort to stop the counterfeiting of Indian stamp paper and ticket smuggling, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and police have arrested two individuals. The suspects, Nawab Arju (alias Lalu) from Bihar and Raju Kumar Yadav, were apprehended after intelligence revealed a smuggling syndicate operating from Delhi.

The authorities discovered that the accused, along with their associates, were planning to form an interstate syndicate to distribute counterfeit Indian stamp papers and tickets across the country. Nawab Arju was found in Gorakhpur district, where he intended to supply counterfeit stamp papers. The Gorakhpur police had announced a reward of Rs 25 thousand for his capture.

Upon arrest, the police seized counterfeit Indian stamp papers worth Rs 6.94 lakhs, counterfeit Indian stamp tickets worth Rs 72 thousand, three mobile phones, and a four-wheeler. Nawab Arju has a history of smuggling counterfeit stamp paper and has previous FIRs for cheating, forgery, and counterfeiting under IPC sections.

Six other individuals, identified as Kamrudhin, Sahabzade, Aish Mohammad, Ravindra Dikshit, Nandlal Prasad, and Santosh Gupta, are also allegedly involved in the syndicate. The UP ATS is actively searching for these suspects. Further legal action against the arrested individuals is being taken by the Gorakhpur District Police.
