Uttar Pradesh Plans School Mergers and Addresses Alleged School Misconduct

The government of Uttar Pradesh, India, has announced a plan to merge schools with fewer than 50 students to improve the education system’s efficiency. Students from these schools will be relocated to nearby institutions to ensure their education continues smoothly. Officials have been tasked with creating a detailed plan, including a district booklet, to outline the logistics of the mergers, such as distance, building availability, and transportation.

Additionally, a meeting with District Basic Education Officers is scheduled for November 13-14 to discuss the consolidation process. In a separate incident, the Uttar Pradesh Education Department issued a show cause notice to a private school in Aligarh district. The school was accused of threatening students with an “electric chair” and failing to renew its permit. However, Basic Education Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh clarified that the allegations were false after reviewing CCTV footage, which showed no such incident occurred.
