Uttar Pradesh Minister OP Rajbhar Responds to Akhilesh Yadav’s Allegations on Fake Encounters

Uttar Pradesh Minister OP Rajbhar launched an attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav over allegations that the BJP government has made Uttar Pradesh the ‘capital of fake encounters.’ Rajbhar defended the police’s actions in a recent encounter in Sultanpur, stating that the police fired in self-defense.

Rajbhar said, “Police fired in self-defense. They will not shower flowers when criminals from the other side fire bullets and Aadhaar card will not be asked. In retaliation, bullets were fired and a criminal died.” He also questioned Yadav about the involvement of Mangesh Yadav in the Sultanpur loot, asking, “We want to ask the Samajwadi Party leader whether Mangesh Yadav was involved in the loot that took place in the Sultanpur incident or not?…Are you only worried about Yadav?”

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak also commented on the issue, stating, “The encounter incident in Sultanpur has led the opposition to raise questions. The opposition is portraying these criminals as their own.” He added, “The criminals who were involved were either killed or arrested in the police encounter.” Pathak clarified that the police conducted a serious investigation, gathered evidence, and arrested the criminals, recovering more than two and a half kilogrammes of gold.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also criticized the BJP government over the alleged encounters in the state.
