Uttar Pradesh Government to Ensure Fair Recruitment Exams After Paper Leak Scandal

The Uttar Pradesh government is taking steps to ensure that recruitment exams are conducted fairly following allegations of irregularities in exams like NEET-UG and NET. New policies will be implemented to prevent cheating and ensure transparency.

New Policies for Recruitment Exams

According to sources, four agencies will be responsible for conducting the recruitment exams. Candidates will need to take their exams outside their home board (Grih mandal), with exceptions for disabled people and women. If an exam has more than four lakh candidates, it will be conducted in two phases.

Preventing Cheating

To prevent rigging, the scanning of OMR sheets will be done by the Commission and the Board. Examination centers will be set up in two categories: Government Inter Colleges, Medical Colleges, and Engineering Colleges in the first category, and aided schools in the second category. Schools and colleges without finance will not be used as examination centers.

Background

On February 24, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board canceled the written examination for direct recruitment-2023 to the posts of reserved civilian police following allegations of a question paper leak. More than 48 lakh candidates participated in the constable recruitment exam on February 17 and 18. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the cancellation of the exam due to the paper leak, leading to the sacking of Renuka Mishra, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Board Chairperson. Rajeev Krishna was given additional charge as Recruitment Board Chairperson. The government also ordered an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) exam.
