Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya Predicts BJP Victory in 2027, Takes a Jibe at Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 17: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya recently shared a post stating that the BJP organization is stronger than the government, which led to comments from Opposition leaders. Maurya took a jibe at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, asserting that the BJP is strong at both state and national levels and will win the 2027 assembly polls as it did in 2017.

In a post on X, Maurya said, “SP Bahadur Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji, BJP has a strong organization and government both at national level and state level, SP’s PDA is a fraud. The return of SP’s hooliganism in UP is impossible, BJP will repeat 2017 in the 2027 assembly elections.”

Maurya’s post followed a meeting with BJP party President JP Nadda in Delhi. Nadda also met with Uttar Pradesh BJP Chief Bhupender Chaudhary. Maurya is serving his second term as Deputy CM. In 2017, he was the state BJP president when the BJP formed a majority government under CM Yogi Adityanath with 312 seats in the Assembly. Although Maurya lost the 2022 Assembly election, he continued as Deputy CM and was later elected to the Legislative Council.

Opposition leaders speculated that Maurya’s post indicated dissent within the BJP. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the BJP’s internal conflicts were affecting governance in UP. Congress leader Pramod Tiwari compared the situation to when Kalyan Singh was removed as Chief Minister, suggesting that honest BJP workers are unhappy.
