Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya Supports Protesting UPPSC Aspirants

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has expressed support for the UP Public Service Commission aspirants who are protesting. He assured that the government is taking their demands seriously and has instructed officials to find a solution.

Protests in Prayagraj

Students preparing for the UPPSC exams have been protesting for three consecutive days outside the UPPSC building in Prayagraj. They held a candlelight march, demanding that the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) and Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) exams be conducted in a single shift, as was previously done. They believe this change will make the process fairer and more manageable.

Response from Authorities

The protests began after UPPSC announced that the RO-ARO exams would be held over two days in multiple shifts. In response to the protests, Uttar Pradesh Police registered an FIR against 12 individuals for vandalism during the demonstrations. Prayagraj Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Bharti confirmed that some individuals have been taken into custody.

Government’s Stance

UPPSC officials have visited the protest site to explain the policies and encourage suggestions for better alternatives. Despite unsuccessful talks with authorities, the students remain determined to continue their peaceful protest, calling in more peers and preparing to sustain their efforts until their concerns are addressed.
