Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Launches Van Mahotsav to Promote Tree Planting

The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh is organizing Van Mahotsav from July 1 to July 7 to promote tree planting and environmental conservation. The event aims to preserve heritage trees and raise public awareness about the importance of planting trees.

Activities for School Children

As part of the event, school children will participate in various competitions like Prabhatpheri and Nukkad Natak to learn about the environment. Other activities include art, essays, debates, and seminars at the school level.

Focus on Environmental Conservation

Given the recent intense heatwave, the state government is emphasizing environmental conservation and rainwater harvesting. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged people to plant and protect at least one or two fruit trees.

Public Awareness Programs

Public awareness programs will be held across the state, focusing on environmental protection, afforestation, tree planting, rainwater harvesting, water conservation, and reducing the use of plastic.

Plantation Targets

The Yogi government aims to plant 35 crore saplings this year. The Forest and Environment Department plans to plant 14 crore saplings, and the Rural Development Department aims for 12.59 crore saplings statewide. The Lucknow division has the highest target of planting 4 crore saplings.
