In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the importance of law enforcement during an event on Police Commemoration Day. He stated that instilling fear of the law among criminals is a priority for his government. The Chief Minister mentioned that significant steps have been taken to boost the morale and efficiency of the Uttar Pradesh Police, including a zero-tolerance policy towards crime. He reported that actions have been taken against 77,811 criminals, with 923 arrests under the Gangster Act, and property worth Rs 4,057 crore seized from illegal activities.

Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, acknowledging their sacrifices as an inspiration for continued dedication. He also noted the police’s role in ensuring peaceful events like the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram in Ayodhya and the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections 2024.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking on the same occasion, assured that the sacrifices of police personnel will not be forgotten and emphasized the commitment to eradicating terrorism and drug trafficking. Police Commemoration Day, observed annually on October 21, honors those who died in the line of duty, with the main event held at the National Police Memorial.

In other parts of India, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu participated in a parade in Vijayawada, while Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla paid tribute to fallen officers in Mumbai.
