In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, violence erupted during a Durga idol immersion procession, leading to significant actions by the state government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has removed several police officials, including the SHO of Hardi police station and the in-charge of the Mahsi area. CO Mahsi Rupendra Gaur has also been removed, with CO Ravi Khokhar of Rampur taking over the position.

Yogi Adityanath emphasized that justice for the victim’s family is a top priority. The family has received Rs 10 lakh, a house under the PM Awas Yojana, and an Antyodaya card. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has ordered a high-level inquiry, promising strict action against those responsible.

The violence occurred when a procession passed through a Muslim area, leading to a clash between two communities. A person from the Hindu community was killed, and several others were injured. Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla reported that the situation became tense after shots were fired.

Following the incident, police conducted a route march to maintain peace. Chief Minister Adityanath assured that those disrupting peace will face consequences.
