In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the government’s commitment to providing justice to the family of a victim from the Bahraich violence. He assured that the culprits would face strict consequences. This statement followed his meeting with the victim’s family.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced a high-level inquiry into the incident, promising strict action against those responsible. The violence occurred during a Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich, resulting in one death and several injuries.
Family members of the deceased, including Ramgopal Mishra’s sister, demanded severe punishment for the culprits. Mishra’s relative, Pramod Kumar, criticized the police for negligence and called for compensation for Mishra’s wife.
Police reported that the clash began when a procession passed through a Muslim area, leading to an argument and subsequent violence. Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla confirmed the details of the incident.
CM Yogi Adityanath stressed that those disrupting peace in Bahraich would not be spared, and measures are in place to ensure safety and timely completion of idol immersions.
