Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Meets Family of Man Killed During Durga Procession in Bahraich

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to meet the family of a man who was tragically shot during a Durga idol procession in the Mahasi area of Bahraich district. The meeting will occur at the Chief Minister’s residence. The victim’s father, Kailash Nath, expressed his desire for justice, stating, “My son has been killed. I want the culprits to be punished. They have destroyed my family.”

BJP MLA Sureshwar Singh assured that the culprits will face justice and mentioned that the situation has stabilized. He stated, “We reached the spot immediately after the incident. The action has been taken against the officials who seemed responsible for the incident. The investigation is underway. Those who are the culprits will not be spared.”

Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan condemned the incident and called for action against those disrupting peace, emphasizing the need for maintaining harmony.

The incident occurred during a Durga idol immersion procession when a clash erupted between two communities in the Mahasi area. According to Bahraich Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla, the procession was passing through a Muslim area when an argument led to violence, resulting in the death of a Hindu community member. Thirty people have been detained, and a search for the main suspect is ongoing.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stressed that those responsible for disturbing peace in Bahraich will face strict action. He assured that idol immersions will continue with safety measures in place, and officials have been instructed to ensure timely and peaceful processions.
