Uttar Pradesh By-Elections: Candidates File Nominations
In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, 19 candidates have filed their nominations for the upcoming assembly by-elections. These elections will fill nine assembly seats. Notable candidates include BSP’s Rafatullah for the Kundarki seat in Moradabad, Avinash Kumar for the Karhal seat in Mainpuri, SP’s Naseem Solanki for the Sishamau seat in Kanpur, and Mujtaba Siddiqui for the Phulpur seat in Prayagraj.
By Wednesday, a total of 34 candidates had submitted their nominations, with the deadline set for October 25. The by-elections are scheduled for November 13, with results to be announced on November 23.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav mentioned ongoing discussions with Congress about seat sharing for these elections. The by-elections will occur in nine assembly seats, including Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari. The poll body has announced by-elections for nine of the ten vacant seats, excluding Milkipur in Ayodhya district.
These by-elections are part of a larger electoral process involving 48 constituencies across 15 states, including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
