Uttar Pradesh BJP Chief Bhupendra Chaudhary Meets PM Modi Amid Party Review

New Delhi, July 17: Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting, which lasted about an hour, focused on the party’s performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP is currently reviewing its performance in the state, where it won 33 seats, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) won 37 seats, and the Congress, in alliance with SP, won six seats. Chaudhary briefed the Prime Minister on the party’s organizational matters.

The BJP is preparing for 10 upcoming assembly bypolls in Uttar Pradesh, with speculation that SP and Congress might form an alliance for these elections. Chaudhary and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also met BJP president JP Nadda to discuss the party’s performance.

Opposition leaders have commented on internal dissonance within the BJP following the Lok Sabha results. Maurya responded to these comments, asserting that the BJP remains strong at both the state and national levels and will win the 2027 assembly elections.

Union Minister BL Verma emphasized that the party organization and government complement each other and are working together for the state’s development. Meanwhile, opposition leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate have alleged a power struggle within the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

A recent BJP state executive meeting in Lucknow, addressed by BJP chief Nadda, also discussed the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha polls.
