US Urges Ceasefire in Israel-Hamas Conflict, Calls for Justice for Hostages

Washington DC [US], September 4: The United States has emphasized the urgent need to finalize a ceasefire deal in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller highlighted the suffering of both Israeli and Palestinian people due to the conflict.

Miller stated, “It is time to finalize that deal. The people of Israel cannot afford to wait any longer. The Palestinian people, who are also suffering the terrible effects of this war, cannot afford to wait any longer. The world cannot afford to wait any longer.” He added that the US will continue to engage with regional partners to push for a final agreement.

Miller also mentioned that progress has been made in talks, but finalizing an agreement will require both sides to show flexibility and seek solutions. “During talks last week, we made progress on dealing with the obstacles that remain, but ultimately, finalizing an agreement will require both sides to show flexibility. It will require that both sides look for reasons to get to yes, rather than reasons to say no,” he said.

The US State Department also demanded justice for six hostages, including an Israeli-American, who were recently killed in Gaza. Their bodies were found in a Hamas-run tunnel under the city of Rafah. This incident has sparked massive protests in Israel, with people demanding a ceasefire deal and the return of captives held by Hamas.

Protesters have taken to the streets, chanting “Now! Now!” and urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire deal with Hamas. Scuffles between protesters and security forces were reported, with many blocking roads in Tel Aviv and demonstrating outside Netanyahu’s office in West Jerusalem.
