US Lawmaker John Moolenaar and Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall Warn About China’s Threats

US lawmaker and Chairman of the Select Committee on Strategic Competition With China, John Moolenaar, has raised concerns about China’s harmful actions towards the US and countries in the South China Sea. Moolenaar stated, “I, along with many Americans, believe that unbridled economic engagement with China would lead to democracy in China and prosperity at home. And that, as we know, has not come to pass.” He highlighted China’s militarization of the South China Sea, economic coercion, and market manipulation.

Moolenaar also mentioned that China uses joint ventures and capital investments to manipulate and steal market-dominating technology, flooding markets with cheaper CCP-backed products. He emphasized that China sees economics as an extension of politics, aiming to eliminate competition.

In another event, Secretary of the US Air Force Frank Kendall, during a keynote address at the Air & Space Forces Association convention in Washington, said, “I’ve been closely watching the evolution of China’s military for 15 years. China is not a future threat; China is a threat today.” Kendall noted that China invests heavily in capabilities designed to defeat US power in the Western Pacific, including weapons targeting US land and sea assets.

Kendall also mentioned the increasing likelihood of conflict in the Pacific region due to China’s aggressive strategies, although he clarified that war is not imminent or inevitable.
