US Diplomats Meet Omar Abdullah in Srinagar
On Monday, US diplomats, including Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs Graham Mayer and First Secretary Gary Applegarth, met with National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah at his Gupkar residence in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, who was also present, mentioned that the discussions covered a wide range of issues related to Jammu and Kashmir and the region. Political Counselor Abhiram was also part of the US delegation, and senior NC member Ruhullah Mehdi attended the meeting as well.

Omar Abdullah invited the diplomats to visit Kashmir with their families to inspire confidence among tourists from the United States and other parts of the world.
Upcoming Assembly Elections
Campaigning is gaining momentum in Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming assembly elections, which will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 4. The National Conference will contest 51 of 90 seats, and Congress will contest 32 seats according to their seat-sharing pact. The two parties will have a ‘friendly contest’ on five seats and have left one seat each for CPI(M) and Panthers Party. The BJP also announced 16 candidates on Monday.
