Krishnamoorthi praised Biden for putting the country above himself and called his decision a ‘political earthquake.’
Biden made the announcement from his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he has been self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19. In a letter to Americans, Biden said, ‘It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country for me to stand down and focus solely on my duties as president for the rest of my term.’
Following his announcement, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place.
