US Ambassador Eric Garcetti Visits Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri with Family
The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, visited the Lord Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha, along with his family to offer prayers on Saturday. Garcetti expressed his happiness and excitement about the visit, saying, “As a pilgrim, as a tourist–it’s a beautiful place to come. I can feel the power of this place, I can see the beauty of this place. I am excited to share this with my family.”
He also mentioned his interest in understanding India’s contribution to the world’s civilization.
The Jagannath Temple, located in Puri (the Purusottama Kshetra), is dedicated to Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath, his sister Devi Subhadra, and his elder brother Mahaprabhu Shri Balabhadra. The temple is an impressive structure built in Kalinga architecture and is one of the four Dhammas that every Hindu is advised to visit.
Many festivals are celebrated at the Jagannath Temple throughout the year, including Snana Yatra, Netrotsava, Ratha Yatra (Car Festival), Sayan Ekadasi, Chitalagi Amabasya, Srikrushna Janma, and Dussehra.
