US Ambassador Eric Garcetti Praises PM Modi’s Role in Peacemaking and Announces New Indian Consulates in the US
New York [US], September 24: US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, has expressed his country’s support for India’s involvement in peacemaking efforts between Russia and Ukraine. He highlighted the significant role that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar can play due to India’s relations with both countries.
In an interview, Garcetti emphasized the importance of respecting sovereign borders and ensuring that peace does not come at the expense of any nation. He stated, “We welcome everyone’s cooperation and participation in peacemaking. Peacemaking is hard work. It requires difficult conversations with friends.”
Garcetti also welcomed PM Modi’s announcement of opening two new Indian consulates in Boston and Los Angeles. He expressed his excitement, saying, “I was grinning from ear to ear yesterday when Prime Minister Modi said that we will have two new consulates, one in Boston and then one in my hometown of Los Angeles.”
During his three-day visit to the United States, PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in New York and highlighted the growing partnership between India and the US. He mentioned that the bilateral relationship aims at global good and increased cooperation in various sectors.
PM Modi also participated in the Quad Leaders’ Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden, along with leaders from Japan and Australia.
