US Ambassador Eric Garcetti Praises US-India Partnership at IC3 Conference in Delhi
New Delhi [India], August 28: US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, spoke at the Annual IC3 Conference and Expo 2024 in Delhi, emphasizing the strong relationship between the US and India. He noted that both Americans and Indians share similar values and goals, particularly in promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Garcetti highlighted a significant collaboration between the two countries in developing a dengue fever vaccine. He mentioned a recent visit to an Indian company that is in the third round of clinical trials for a vaccine effective against all four strains of dengue fever, thanks to a breakthrough by American scientists.
The US and India share warm and friendly ties across various platforms, including defense and space. In May, US Acting Assistant Secretary of Defence for Space Policy Vipin Narang and India’s Joint Secretary for International Cooperation, Vishwesh Negi, met at the Pentagon for the second annual US-India Advanced Domains Defense Dialogue (AD3). They discussed opportunities to strengthen space cooperation and identified potential areas for collaboration with US industry.
Earlier in April, the Indo-US joint working group under the Defence Tech and Trade Initiative (DTTI) held a two-day meeting in New Delhi to enhance defense collaboration. Key officials, including Brig Gen Joel W Safranek and Air Vice Marshal George Thomas, discussed strategic plans to deepen bilateral defense ties.
