Uruguay Players and Colombia Fans Clash After Copa America Semi-Final

A scuffle broke out between Uruguay players and Colombia fans after the Copa America semi-final at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, US. Colombia secured their place in the final against Argentina with a 1-0 win, thanks to a goal by Jefferson Lerma in the 39th minute.

Despite being down to 10 men, Lerma’s goal was enough for Colombia to triumph over Uruguay. However, after the final whistle, a fight erupted in the stands involving Uruguay players and Colombia fans. Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez and other Uruguay players allegedly climbed into the stands and clashed with fans.

Fox Soccer shared a video of the incident, showing punches, beverages, and garbage being thrown. Uruguay captain Jose Maria Gimenez explained that the players were defending their families, who were in the stands. He criticized the lack of police presence and blamed a few intoxicated individuals for the chaos.

CONMEBOL, the governing body of South American football, is investigating the incident. Uruguay will now face Canada in the third-place playoff on Saturday, while Colombia will compete against Argentina in the final at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
