UPPSC Students Protest in Prayagraj
Demands for Single Shift Exams
In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, students have been protesting for four days, demanding that the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exams be conducted in a single shift. The protests have been marked by students breaking police barricades to reach the UPPSC office.
Police and Student Statements
Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Bharti stated that some ‘anti-social elements’ are provoking students and causing unrest. He emphasized that these elements are being identified and interrogated. Two individuals with criminal histories have already been arrested.
Student Abhishek Shukla expressed frustration, stating that the Commission is playing with students’ futures. He emphasized that their demand is simple: to conduct exams in the former single-shift pattern. Shukla criticized the police for threatening students and preventing them from gathering.
Another student, Priya Singh, questioned why the government cannot fulfill their demand. She highlighted the large number of students involved in the protest.
Abhishek Singh and Pravesh Kumar, other students, accused the police of trying to destabilize the protest and mistreating students, including those with disabilities.
Ongoing Protests
The students continue to press for their demands, insisting that the exams should be held in a single shift to ensure fairness and consistency.
