In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Nishad, the Nishad party president and state minister, expressed concerns about past injustices faced by the Nishad community. He criticized previous state governments for categorizing the community under OBC instead of scheduled categories, as recognized in Delhi’s gazette. Nishad praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for advocating for the community and expressed hope for a change in the state’s gazette.

Nishad emphasized the community’s desire for peace and rights, criticizing the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for not addressing their reservation needs. He pledged support for the BJP in upcoming by-polls, aiming to secure all nine seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak echoed Nishad’s sentiments, highlighting the alliance between the Nishad party and BJP. He assured that the alliance would defeat the opposition in the by-polls, emphasizing past injustices faced by the Nishad community under previous governments.

The Election Commission has announced by-polls for nine of the ten vacant assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, with polling on November 13 and vote counting on November 23.
