Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 23: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tribute to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, on his death anniversary.

Remembering a Great Leader

During the event, CM Yogi highlighted that on June 23, 1953, Syama Prasad Mookerjee made the ultimate sacrifice for a united India, advocating for ‘Ek Rashtra, Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan’.

He mentioned that after India’s independence in 1947 and the implementation of the constitution in 1950, the Congress-led government introduced Article 370, which Mookerjee opposed. Mookerjee resigned from his post in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and launched a movement to abolish Article 370 in Kashmir.

Honoring the Sacrifice

CM Yogi stated that Mookerjee, along with thousands of Bharatiya Jana Sangh workers, campaigned for the Kashmir Satyagraha and sacrificed his life. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP government honored Mookerjee’s vision by abrogating Article 370 in Kashmir.

Deputy CM’s Tribute

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak also paid tribute, recalling Mookerjee’s efforts to strengthen India. He noted that the removal of Article 370 is a gift of Mookerjee, who first advocated for it in independent India.
