Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches Kavach 4.0 in Rajasthan
Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan) [India], September 24: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the Kavach 4.0 system in Rajasthan. He announced that Kavach 4.0 has been launched for the first time in India from Sawai Madhopur. In the coming years, 10,000 locomotives will be equipped with Kavach, and 9,000 kilometers of additional railway tracks will be covered.
Vaishnaw addressed concerns about passenger safety, especially regarding recent stone-pelting incidents on trains. He assured that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in such incidents. The railway staff is working closely with state governments, including state DGPs and Home Secretaries, to enhance safety measures.
He highlighted the significant advancements in railway security, including the introduction of the Kavach system. Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that helps trains run safely by automatically applying brakes if the loco pilot fails to do so. It also ensures safe operation during bad weather.
Earlier, the Mahabodhi Express (12397) was targeted in a stone-pelting incident near Mirzapur station.
