Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 3: Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his claim that a ‘raid is being planned’. Meghwal accused Gandhi of making false allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to divert attention from the Wayanad landslides, which have claimed over 300 lives.

Meghwal questioned why Gandhi did not understand the seriousness of the Wayanad landslide issue, despite reports from IIT Delhi and information from the Central Government. He stated, “He is leveling false accusations against the BJP to divert attention from such a serious issue. This kind of politics is not good.”

Rahul Gandhi had posted on X that ‘insiders’ from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed him of a planned raid, saying, “Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned. Waiting with open arms Enforcement Directorate (ED) @dir_ed…..Chai and biscuits on me.”

Kerala Health Minister Veena George reported that the death toll from the July 30 landslides in Chooralmala and Mundakkai of Wayanad stands at 308. So far, 215 bodies and 143 body parts have been recovered, including 98 males, 87 females, and 30 children. Post-mortem procedures have been completed on 212 bodies and 140 body parts, with 148 bodies identified by relatives.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also criticized Gandhi, stating that those who misguide, lie, and feel jealous of the nation’s development make such negative statements. Scindia accused the Congress party of trying to lead the nation towards negative thinking and ideology, and of creating disputes between people.

Scindia further noted that the Congress party has opposed various commission reports, including the Mandal Commission, and has not won a single seat in 13 states in recent Lok Sabha elections. He highlighted that the combined seats won by Congress in the 2014, 2019, and 2024 general elections do not match the current seats held by the BJP in 2024.
