Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar Criticizes West Bengal Government Over Female Doctor’s Death
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar criticized the West Bengal government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the death of a female post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor. Majumdar stated that the safety of women in the state is not good and suggested that more than one person might be involved in the incident.
Earlier, Majumdar and West Bengal BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul visited the residence of the deceased doctor. Paul demanded a CBI investigation and a re-postmortem by a Central Government hospital, suspecting that the doctor was raped and murdered.
Doctors at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi held a protest in support of the deceased doctor, carrying posters and demanding a CBI inquiry. Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, also called for a CBI investigation into the incident.
