Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar Criticizes Mamata Banerjee Over Judiciary and Governance Issues
Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar has voiced strong criticism against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He accused her of lacking faith in the judiciary and not obeying court verdicts. Majumdar highlighted a recent incident where the Calcutta High Court ruled against reservations for Muslims under OBCs, which Banerjee opposed, calling it a BJP verdict.
Majumdar also condemned Banerjee’s derogatory remarks against the Governor, calling it an insult to the Constitution and the Raj Bhavan. This comes amid a standoff between the Governor and the Trinamool Congress over the oath ceremony of two newly elected MLAs.
In response to nationwide protests by the Aam Aadmi Party against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, Majumdar stated that the court’s denial of bail indicates that there is substantial evidence against Kejriwal.
Majumdar further addressed the alleged assault on a BJP worker in Cooch Behar, suggesting that actions against hawkers by civic bodies are a distraction from this incident. He emphasized that hawkers should be given prior notice and alternative arrangements if they are to be removed from illegal encroachments.
Lastly, Majumdar criticized the Mamata Banerjee government for the lack of job opportunities in the state, stating that many people are forced to become hawkers or migrate to other states for work.
