Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar Comments on Dr. Sandip Ghosh’s Arrest in Corruption Case
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 2: Following the arrest of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Union State Minister Sukanta Majumdar shared his thoughts on the matter.
Majumdar’s Prediction
In a video message, Majumdar stated, “The arrest was bound to happen and it was a demand of the people of Bengal… I already had doubted if the CBI could arrest Dr. Sandip Ghosh in the matter of rape-murder due to the lack of evidence but in the case of corruption, Sandip Ghosh has been arrested, as I had predicted earlier.”
Thanking the CBI
Majumdar thanked the CBI for respecting the demands of the people of Bengal. He said, “The main thing is that the people of Bengal wanted this arrest to happen and for respecting the demands of the people of Bengal, I thank the CBI.”

Majumdar also criticized the TMC government, stating, “Despite the TMC government’s attempts to destroy evidence, his corruption and wrongdoings will soon be exposed. The people of Bengal deserve the truth, and this arrest is a crucial step towards it.”

On Monday, the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh along with three others over alleged corruption and financial misconduct at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The other arrested individuals include two vendors, Biplav Singha and Suman Hazara, and Afsar Ali, the Additional Security to Dr. Ghosh.

The investigation into Dr. Ghosh’s alleged corruption and financial irregularities was ordered by a single bench of the Calcutta High Court. An official FIR was registered by the CBI on August 24. Dr. Ghosh was taken to the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch for further investigation.
