Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar Lights Candle for Kolkata Rape and Murder Victim on Janmashtami
On Janmashtami, Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar visited the family of the Kolkata rape and murder victim and lit a candle in her memory. He also met with the victim’s parents and urged people to light a candle for peace and justice.
Majumdar expressed concerns about the delay in the CBI investigation, stating that evidence had been tampered with. He said, “The video that has come up today shows how the crime scene has been trampled… I don’t think any evidence would be there. A case should be registered against those who can be seen in that video for tampering with evidence. CBI is taking time and it has to conduct polygraph tests and all as the evidence has been tampered with.”
The brutal rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has sparked outrage across the country. The incident has led to several protests demanding justice for the victim.
Earlier, CBI officials conducted a polygraph test on the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy. On August 25, Parimal Dey, a teacher from Alipurduar in West Bengal who was honored with the Banga Ratna award by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2019, decided to return the award in protest against the state government’s handling of the case.
The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
