Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a meeting with leaders of several farmer organizations in New Delhi. The meeting took place at the Pusa Campus, where Chouhan emphasized the importance of open dialogue on major topics like import-export regulations, dumping duties, and other farmer-related concerns.

Chouhan stated, “Agriculture is the country’s backbone and the farmers are the soul. Serving the farmers is like worshipping God. I met leaders of the farmer’s association and they gave a lot of suggestions. We are working out those suggestions. Some of them are about crops, Fasal Bima Yojana, and the loss of crops.”

He encouraged farmers to share their suggestions and promised to work on them. Chouhan announced weekly meetings with farmer organizations to discuss issues in the sector. He said, “We had decided a few days ago that every Tuesday we will meet and discuss with farmer organizations and farmer brothers and sisters. During this period, meaningful discussions were held on various topics. Also, the farmer friends praised the important decisions taken by the government in the direction of agriculture and farmer welfare.”

Farmer leader Dharmendra Malik supported the initiative, saying, “We believe that if there is a dialogue, easy dialogue, then things get resolved through easy dialogue. Today one thing will be solved, tomorrow it will be another, and whichever is a critical issue.”

Chouhan also planted a tree at the Pusa Campus as part of a pledge to plant a tree every day, promoting environmental conservation. He urged everyone to make the earth green by planting as many trees as possible.
