Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey Launches Karo and Konar Coal Handling Plants in Bokaro
On October 7, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, laid the foundation stone for two major coal handling plants in the Bokaro and Kargali regions. These plants, Karo and Konar, are part of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and have a combined capacity of 12 million tonnes annually.
Details of the Coal Handling Plants
The Karo Coal Handling Plant can handle 7 million tonnes per year, while the Konar Coal Handling Plant has a capacity of 5 million tonnes per year. These plants are set to transform coal transportation in the area.

The Konar Plant, costing Rs322 crore, includes a hopper, crusher, storage bunker, and conveyor belt, reducing loading time from five hours to one. The Karo Plant, with a Rs410 crore investment, features similar infrastructure, also cutting loading time significantly. These plants will streamline coal supply, reduce road transport, and lower pollution levels.
